Best quality

With Jane Winther and Unisound, you get honest information and facts – and the best quality on the market.

Since 1992, I have been selling sound instruments from Nepal in particular, and have chosen to sell the best quality on the market. All the instruments undergo a thorough quality control, and each instrument is listened to and selected by me personally. In practice, this means that I select a maximum of 5% of all the instruments I listen to.

There are many different qualities on the market and like many things, there is often a correlation between price and quality. The good quality gets better over the years – the cheap quality doesn’t…

Many stories have emerged in recent years about 7 or 12 metal bowls, full moon bowls and much more. “Unfortunately” I can’t offer that. It’s important for me to provide honest and real information and facts about the instruments. I used to believe that there were 5-7 metals in the bowls, but have since found out that the best quality is the same as in bell bronze (approx. 78% copper and 22% tin).

My contacts in Nepal since 1989 tell me that the sound is most optimal when it is a bell bronze with approximately 28% tin and 72% copper. All other metals do not make the singing bowl sound better. On the contrary, it makes the bowl less vibrant and vibrating. It is tin that gives the singing bowl its warm sound. Copper is often extracted from the green stone malachite, which is a “heart stone”. That makes a lot of sense to me 🙂

It’s also important to mention that I only work with Nepalese people who guarantee that everyone involved in the production, washing and packing of the instruments is treated well and is happy and satisfied – and not least that they get a decent salary.
