Why use singing bowls?
Over the past three decades, I have studied the effects of singing bowls and other sound instruments. I’ve had many exciting experiences and witnessed others’ reactions to the effects of sound through courses, concerts and sound treatments.
The sounds and the many overtones from the singing bowls are particularly beneficial and useful during periods when we are in transition. It could be a shift in work or personal life where the sounds of singing bowls can act as a safe haven.
Listening to one or more singing bowls opens up the possibility of becoming more present, letting go of mental strategies and instead feeling yourself from the inside: What is true for me? Which direction is calling?
The deep tones of larger bowls create a sonic foundation where the mind and nervous system begin to calm down. Worries and thoughts dissolve and a quiet presence is allowed to emerge. In other words, the calming vibrations of a large singing bowl make it easier to shift from a state of fear and stress to one of comfort and calm.
When we are relaxed, comfortable and aware of each breath, we are able to let go of the tensions and imbalances that often arise during the day. When we’re calm and clear-minded, we have access to rebalance both body and mind.
